Bird of Paradise Flower Meaning

Here in Hawaii, Bird of Paradise (a.k.a the Crane Flower), is a common garden plant and a long-lasting cut flower to go with any home/office tropical arrangement.

Hawaii Native Status: Cultivated. Originally from South Africa.

Fun Fact: The flower is made of three bright orange petals and three blue petals, which are fused together into a "bud". As the Bird of Paradise blooms, each petal makes its entrance and the shape, when fully bloomed, looks like a tropical bird in flight.

Meaning of the Bird Paradise Flower

The flower symbolism associated with the bird of paradise flower is freedom, good perspective, faithfulness (when given from a woman to a man). The bird of paradise flower is so-named because of a resemblance to the actual bird of paradise.

Kathy Bochis King I planted seeds 27 years ago. They grew beautifully indoors (I live in NY) but never bloomed. I was told this year to stress it out (move it out of the sun and don’t water it for a while). Then start watering it and use fertilizer every single watering. Finally, it bloomed and it was beautiful!
