Brunia Flower - Brunia laevis Vaalstompie

Brunia albiflora, common names: white-flowered brunia, coffee-scented brunia, coffee bush (Eng.); knopbossie, fonteinbossie, stompies (Afr.) is a serotinous fynbos species from a plant family endemic to South Africa. Serotinous means that it stores its seeds and accumulates them annually and they are released after the parent is killed by fire. But if there is no fire, the infructescence eventually disintegrates and the seeds fall to the floor below the parent and some of the seeds germinate on their own. So although they are adapted to a fire-prone vegetation and germinate much better after a fire, they are not entirely dependant on fire for regeneration.

The Brunia flowers start green, turn white in flower, now this lovely red! Soon there will be another 'crop' further along the stalks

I'm loving this flower combination! Menta roses with flowering branches and brunia.

Brunia Albiflora - Also called white-flowered brunia or coffee-scented brunia or coffee bush is a tall, slender shrub. The branches are leafy, with beautiful dark green foliage. The flowers are clustered into flat, rounded green heads ‘bobbles’ full of texture and totally awesome! #CAGrown — at Resendiz Brothers Protea Growers.
